History
Built in 1967 as the Chevrolet Die and Engineering Center, this facility was subsequently managed by the former Buick-Oldsmobile-Cadillac Group’s Detroit Product Team beginning in 1985, then by the Cadillac Luxury Car Division beginning in 1987, and then by the Die Management Group beginning in 1991. In 1997, Flint Tool & Die became the only stand-alone die construction facility in GM.

Flint is the only stand alone die construction facility within GM’s tool and die operation. More than 300 team members are involved in all phases of GM’s die construction process – including die design, solid modeling, pattern making, machining, blocking, assembly and verification.
