Plant History
The plant was purchased in 1953 by Chrysler Corporation and converted to a stamping plant in 1974. In 1992, it was converted to produce the Dodge Viper. Dodge Viper production moved to Conner Avenue Assembly Plant (Detroit, Mich.) in 1995. The Mack Engine Plant began producing engines in 1998. A second plant, Mack Engine II, was completed next door and began producing a new, smaller V-6 engine in 2000. Expansion lines were launched in May 2001.
