The plant opened in 2006 with the assembly of automatic transmissions for North Americanbuilt models — initially the Honda Odyssey and Pilot models produced in Alabama. The plant has since expanded its capabilities, adding the casting and machining of transmission cases to its initial assembly operations, expanding its plant size from 100,000 to 350,000 square feet, and increasing capital investment from $100 million to $150 million.
